How world capitals plays

Capital mode drops you inside one of the 200 national capitals. This is the most beginner-friendly pool in the game — every capital has a distinctive urban form, road grid, monument layout, river, or coastline. Once you can read the difference between a colonial grid, a medieval radial, and a planned modernist capital, you can place most rounds within seconds.

The pool covers every national capital, from the obvious ones (London, Tokyo, Washington) to the less obvious (Naypyidaw, Astana, Yamoussoukro). Capital mode is the fastest route into the game and the most rewarding for first-time players.

What you'll learn

  • Reading urban form — colonial grid vs. medieval radial vs. modernist planned
  • Using a capital's river, harbour, or coastline as a primary placement clue
  • Recognising distinctive monument complexes, palaces, and government quarters from above
  • Distinguishing the texture of low-rise vs. high-rise capitals
