How heritage sites plays

Heritage mode drops you at one of 2,000 UNESCO World Heritage sites. The pool is unusually well-distributed — cultural sites in Europe and Asia, natural sites in Africa and the Americas, mixed sites in Oceania — and the variety means a heritage round can drop you at the Great Wall, the Galápagos, Machu Picchu, or the Vatican.

Heritage mode rewards general geographic knowledge more than any other pool, because the sites are famous enough that recognising them is half the round. The other half is placing the lesser-known ones — and the catalog is full of those.

What you'll learn

  • Recognising the most iconic monuments and natural sites from above
  • Placing lesser-known heritage sites by their geographic context
  • Reading historic urban cores (medinas, old quarters, fortified cities)
  • Distinguishing cultural-heritage countryside from natural-heritage wilderness
